Welcome to our website! Arundel Woodland Products is a limited company established in 2020. We are in the business of sustainably managing woodland, and from this creating beautiful outdoor products. The business is based in Reef Wood, 7.5 acres of woodland, part of Tortington Woods and the South Downs National Park, close to Arundel.
Conservation
The larch is overdue thinning and has an understory of hazel, birch and mixed broadleaves. There is currently a lack of light in the larch compartments of the woodland preventing natural regeneration of ancient woodland indicator plants. Opening the canopy using selective felling will allow the remaining trees of oak, silver birch, beech and sweet chestnut to reach maturity and encourage natural regeneration as well as improving the woodland ecology. A Woodland Management Plan has been approved by the Forestry Commission and a small grant awarded by Defra to subsidise woodland management. A Felling Licence has been obtained for thinning in Reef Wood and neighbouring Hatch permitting the removal of 1700 trees over 5 years which will subsequently be replanted with native species.
Community & Education
We are committed to supporting local people, schools and youth groups, using the woodland environment for education and skills development. We currently have three school groups using the woodland on a weekly basis free of charge and we welcome enquires from other interested organisations.
