The construction of Reef Barn was undertaken under Permitted Development from South Downs National Park to support our sustainable forestry activity in Reef Wood. The whole build took about 12 months in total. We were constrained by site conditions, build slots and not to mention a global pandemic. First the access needed to be cleared and surfaced with a layer of aggregate from a local quarry at Fittleworth near Petworth. The area for the barn had to be cleared and the foundation prepared with rounds of timber and more Fittleworth stone. Then the foundation piles were installed before the main structure erected in summer 2021.
