Our Approach
Our woodland is nestled in the heart of a large semi-natural ancient forest which used to form part of Arundel Castle estate. The woodland is home to a range of native species of wildlife and we are working hard to preserve and protect the local environment. Through effective woodland management we are creating habitats for rare species such as dormice and a rare species of butterfly.
About me
In 2018 Tom bought the 7.5 acre Reef Wood adjacent to the existing 5 acres owned by the family to strengthen the business opportunity of sustainably managing a newly planted ancient woodland. A thinning licence from the Forestry Commission was obtained and an application under Permitted Development was approved by South Downs National Park for a 120m2 forestry barn in 2020 and the barn was constructed in 2021. A grant from the EU contributed to the funding of a Norwood Sawmill so that timber can be processed.
